Frequently Asked Questions ETRO+

The ETRO+ grades are PETRONAS lubricant base stocks produced at PETRONAS Melaka Group III (MG3) plant from PETRONAS-owned feedstock. PETRONAS ETRO 4+ and ETRO 6+ are able to meet the superior VI of minimum 130 (API Group III+).

The ETRO+ grades combine excellent volatility and stability with superior high-and low-temperature performance for blending very low-viscosity engine oils at optimised product costs.

The superior quality of ETRO+ grades is introduced over the regular ETRO grades to enable further improvement in engine oil production costs for our customers and to help meet ever more stringent environmental and legislative requirements for the automotive industry.

By using the ETRO+ quality for product blending, very low-viscosity engine oils can be formulated in an economic way by partly or fully replacing expensive components (e.g. PAO). Lower product blending costs with the ETRO+ stocks may also be obtained by reduction of polymer content and optimising the number of components in the blend.

ETRO+ base stocks are stored and distributed by a fully PETRONAS-operated transport system for reliable supply to the storage hubs in our global network:

Supplies to customers can be accommodated by bulk vessels, barges, tank trucks, isotanks, rail car, flexibags and drums
